The Rowing Club
Just under half a mile away from 5a King Street, is Newark Rowing Club. The path to Newark Rowing Club takes you along the marina — a peaceful stretch that leads to the final stop on the Kiddey Trail. While the Club itself is not open to the public, you can get a glimpse of Robert Kiddey’s sculpture inside the club from the bridge.
Installed in 1961, the stone panel created for the rowing club reflects Kiddey’s established presence in the town by this time. He had already created numerous public artworks for Newark, and his contributions were becoming part of the town’s fabric. The Rowing Club commission sits within that body of civic work — dignified, purposeful, and unmistakably his. This final stop is not only a chance to view one of his works, but also to pause and reflect on the life of an artist who gave so much to the town he quietly called home.
